[Raven doesn't sleep well, after the announcement. If she ever sleeps well at all, that is. Her dreams aren't what they used to be, psychic messages from other-worldy sources. In the absence of a hand reaching into her mind to show her horror, is the horror that she can come up with all on her lonesome.
It's not because she's scared. So, it's the first night, though closer in all technicality to the second morning, that she wanders out of her tent restlessly, to stare into the fire that is barely even real.
Curled up by her side, is a black great dane. Her fingers scratch his ears gently.]
[Maybe Subaru could’ve slept, if he’d really tried; his body was one of those useless ones that would break and cry out for its base needs no matter the situation. But as a veteran of all-nighters, keeping himself up is a skill he’s trained well.
It is because he’s scared. He resents himself for it, for cowering away in his room, but he resents the situation just that bit more.
Bravery isn’t what gets him to leave, but that, no longer paralysed by fear, he’s made restless by it. Though he has every reason to steer clear of them, he’s drawn to the sight of another person by the fire - though the dog warrants a double take, Subaru slightly flinching at first glance.]
I guess there’s something to say about dogs resembling their owners… [He looks between Raven and the dog. Yeah. That scans, actually.] Did he come along with you too?
[She looks up at him, furrowing her brow. Then looks at the dog.]
...Does he?
[He's a bit too fierce in her mind, given she's practically a whisper of a girl. But there's some superficial similarities, such as a similar colour scheme.]
He came with me. I got him for... well, a friend. But we sort of... shared custody.
[He nods. It is, admittedly, because of the similar colour scheme. Maybe the fierceness could speak to some aspect of her personality, or not, but he's just met her.]
He just wormed his way into your heart and you couldn't let go, huh? [He crouches down, tentatively reaching out a hand before petting. Just to make sure he's friendly.] What's his name?
[He receives the petting with a satisfied grumble. He can be aggressive, when the need arises, but he's very well trained, and very sleepy, and most importantly, a very good boy.]
Something like that. [It helps that she was also living with his owner and that they were particularly close even as far as the titans go.]
Titus. [A beat.] The Bat-Hound. I didn't name him.
That’s pretty disappointing, but I guess Raven works well enough on its own?
[He can’t help his eyes glittering a little bit - even in his teenage years he has to admit that superheroes are cool.]
Guess that means we can count on you to take care of any baddies here. [He laughs, it’s not a serious suggestion- but it is some comfort knowing they have a real hero among their ranks.] The ‘Teen Titans’ is your team, right? What’re the rest of them like?
[Imagine calling her disappointing. She's so offended right now.]
The dog's probably more reliable than me at that, but I'll do my best, I guess. [And then he asks about the Titans and it's... well. It's complicated. She's not sure she can really...]
...I have a plush doll of a few of them. I can show you, if you'd like?
Week One
Sunday, after midnight
It's not because she's scared. So, it's the first night, though closer in all technicality to the second morning, that she wanders out of her tent restlessly, to stare into the fire that is barely even real.
Curled up by her side, is a black great dane. Her fingers scratch his ears gently.]

But...he can't hear that without snorting.]
The Bat-Hound? What, is that his superhero alias?
no subject
I don't know why they named him that. It's stupid. [And endearing, in it's way.]

W-wait, he's an actual super-dog?!
sorry for how late this is!!!
And he's an exceptionally well-trained dog.
no worries!!!
[Subaru has to spend one moment expressing his awe, then goes right into giving Titus a good scratch behind the ears.]
You’re a really good boy then, huh?
[He generally prefers fluffier animals, but he’ll go all in on petting Titus all the same.]
Hang on - does that mean you’re a superhero too?

Go ahead! I'd love to see 'em.
